My grand tour of the UK, Germany, Italy, and Slovenia
First stop: University of Warwick, Coventry, UK. A visit to my collaborator Livia and her group. We had a great time discussing our work and reviewing our first paper together.
Livia and Albert hosting a lovely BBQ at their home in Coventry
Second stop: Garching b. München, Germany. 42nd International Workshop on Bayesian Inference and Maximum Entropy Methods in Science and Engineering (MaxEnt 2023), 3–7 July, 2023, Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics.
Staying next to a nuclear reactor?!
Third stop: Trieste, Italy. Workshop on Quantum Monte Carlo Methods for Describing Novel States of Matter, 10–14 July, 2023, Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP).
Can you blame me for too much wine in Italy?
Last stop: Holiday in Slovenia. Three weeks of visiting/conference back-to-back, I needed a break! Spent a lovely week in Slovenia, relaxing in the beautiful Julian Alps, by the lakes, and in the charming capital city of Ljubljana. Thanks to my dear friend Matija and Alma for hosting me and driving me around. Hvala!
Overlooking Lake Bohinj from the Julian Alps, ready to jump! I did jump, with a paraglider!
Honorable mentions: I managed to squeeze in a visit Salzburg, Austria, on my train ride from Ljubljana back to Munich. Festung Hohensalzburg is majestic, and the view from the top over the city and the Alps is breathtaking.
The view from the top of the castle.
